FAMILY MATE PRIVACY POLICY
Applies to the FamilyMate application, distributed worldwide
👋 Hello and welcome! We are FamilyMate (referred to herein as “we,” “us,” or “FamilyMate”). We respect your privacy and take the protection of personal data—both yours and that of your child—very seriously. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how we collect, use, store, and share your data, as well as the choices and rights you have when using our FamilyMate application (“App”) and related services (“Services”).
If you have any questions about or requests regarding this Policy, please contact us at:
contact@familymate.ai
1. Introduction and Scope
1.1. By accessing or using our App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms described in this Policy.
1.2. FamilyMate is designed for parents or legal guardians to manage, supervise, and protect their children’s device usage. In some cases, we may provide an additional app or module specifically for children (“Kids App”); this Kids App must be used in conjunction with the parent’s FamilyMate app in order to enable all parental control features.
1.3. For users in the United States, a “child” is any individual under 13 years of age, and for users in the European Union (EU), a “child” is any individual under 16 years of age. Children may only use the Kids App or child-directed version of our Services with the verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian.
1.4. This Policy is part of our Terms of Service. Please review both our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service carefully to understand your rights and obligations.
2. Data We Collect and Receive
2.1. To deliver our Services, we may collect or receive different types of information, including:
Information voluntarily provided by you during account registration or setup.
Information automatically recorded during your or your child’s use of the App.
2.2. Categories of Data Collected:
2.2.1. Registration and Account Data
When you create an account on FamilyMate, we may collect:
Your email address (for verification and communication)
Your username
Your IP address
The Kids App (if provided) may be installed by a parent/guardian or by the child. However, to link it to the parent’s account, the child must enter a binding code generated by the FamilyMate parent app.
2.2.2. Communication Data
If you contact us via email, our website, or any other support channel, we may collect:
Your contact details (this may include a social media account if you communicate with us through that platform)
The content of your messages, requests, or any attachments you send
2.2.3. Data Collected Through Service Usage
Device Information: We may collect technical data about the mobile device you and your child use, such as operating system version, system language, CPU model, memory, IMEI, IMSI, MAC address, Android ID, and IP address.
Usage Behavior: Information about how often you use the App, your interaction patterns (e.g., tapping on “Alerts” or “Devices” sections), and timestamps of access.
Payment Data: If you purchase a subscription or features, we may receive transaction-related information (e.g., amount, date/time) but do not directly collect sensitive payment details (credit card/banking info). Such sensitive information is managed by third-party payment providers (e.g., App Store, Google Play).
Child’s Device Data (only when parent/guardian consent is given):
Location Data (GPS, Network): Used to show your child’s device location within the FamilyMate parent App. Location data is stored only as necessary and may be deleted periodically. You can enable/disable location permissions in the child’s device settings.
Surrounding Audio: If you activate the feature to listen to or record the child’s device surroundings, the audio is accessed only in real-time to provide the requested Service, and is not stored on our servers. You can manage the microphone permission in the child’s device settings.
Device Usage Statistics: Includes notification counts, screen time, app usage time, and mobile data usage. These statistics are displayed only in the parent’s linked account.
Notification Access: Allows you to view notifications appearing on your child’s device for monitoring purposes. We generally store these notifications for a limited time (e.g., 48 hours) to enable syncing to the parent’s account, after which they are deleted.
2.2.4. Automatically Collected Data via Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our third-party partners may use cookies, log files, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect data about your browser interactions, the App, or our Services.
This includes IP address, browser type, entrance/exit pages, unique device identifiers, and how you interact with our website or App.
Cookies may be used for authentication, security, remembering preferences, analytics, research, or marketing.
For children’s data, we do not use or share it for targeted advertising.
2.2.5. Anonymous Data
We may collect and process data that has been anonymized (stripped of personal identifiers) to generate statistics, conduct research, or improve Services. This anonymized data cannot be used to re-identify you or your child.
2.2.6. Sensitive Information
We do not intentionally collect or process any sensitive information related to race, religion, political stance, health conditions, or criminal records.
3. Children’s Personal Data
3.1. Child Users in the US (<13) and EU (<16)
We understand the importance of protecting children’s data. We only collect a child’s data when we have verifiable parental consent in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the US or equivalent regulations in the EU.
If we inadvertently collect data from a child without parental consent, we will delete that data upon discovery. If you find that your child (under the applicable age threshold) registered an account without permission, please contact us immediately at contact@familymate.ai so we can remove that data.
3.2. Parental Rights
You have the right to review or delete any information we’ve collected from your child, or to withdraw permission for us to collect more data from your child. Please email us at contact@familymate.ai.
Your child’s data (location, surrounding audio, usage stats, etc.) will be shared only with the parent/guardian account that is linked to the child’s device.

4.4. Based on Your Consent (If Applicable)
In certain cases, we may require your separate consent (e.g., for marketing newsletters). You can withdraw this consent at any time by adjusting your settings or emailing contact@familymate.ai. Withdrawal of consent does not affect any processing already conducted lawfully before the withdrawal.
5. Sharing Your Personal Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your or your child’s personal data, except in the following circumstances:
Within our Company or Affiliates: For internal support or service provision.
With Contractors or Service Providers: Such as cloud hosting providers, payment platforms, or analytics partners. They are contractually obliged to protect your data and use it only as instructed by us.

Data may be shared in an anonymized, aggregated form, which cannot identify you or your child.
6. Third-Party Websites and Services
6.1. While using our Services, you may encounter links or advertisements that direct you to external websites or platforms not controlled by us. We are not responsible for how these third-party sites collect, handle, or process your information. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies before providing any personal data.
7. Data Security
7.1. We employ technical, administrative, and organizational measures to safeguard your and your child’s data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Only authorized personnel can access personal data, subject to strict confidentiality obligations.

9. International Data Transfers
9.1. FamilyMate operates globally, so your and your child’s data may be transferred to or stored in servers located in various countries. We strive to ensure suitable protection measures (e.g., compliance with GDPR standards for EU users) wherever your data is processed.
10. Your Rights and Choices
10.1. Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
10.2. Right to Rectification: You can request that we update or correct your data if you believe it is inaccurate.
10.3. Right to Erasure: You can ask us to delete your personal data if it is no longer needed or if you wish to terminate your account.
10.4. Right to Object: When we rely on “legitimate interest,” you may object to our processing. However, this may affect your ability to continue using the Services.
10.5. Right to Withdraw Consent: If our processing of personal data relies on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect any processing that occurred prior to your withdrawal.
10.6. Right to Complain: If you believe we have violated data protection laws, you may lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
10.7. How to Exercise Your Rights: To exercise any of the above rights, please email us at contact@familymate.ai. We typically respond within 30 business days (or sooner where possible).
11. Changes to This Policy
11.1. We may update this Policy from time to time to comply with new regulations or to enhance our privacy practices. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a prominent notice in the App or sending an email to registered users.
11.2. For users in the United States, if any changes affect how we collect or use children’s data (under 13) under COPPA, we will request fresh parental consent prior to implementing the changes.
